About Hope from Home
Substance use disorder (SUD) treatment in Pennsylvania was first provided over telehealth applications in 2020. Over the next few years, Pennsylvania leaders recognized patient success in accessing SUD treatment this way and extended regulations to allow for continued use of virtual services.
In 2024, a new Pennsylvania law mandated that commercial insurers cover telehealth services in the same manner that applies to in-person outpatient treatment. This helped pave the way for Hope from Home to receive a PA state license to operate a fully remote behavioral health treatment program. Today, telehealth services offered by Hope from Home include substance use disorder counseling, psychiatric care, preventative services and medication assisted recovery. Hope From Home is a program of Gateway Rehabilitation Center, its parent organization.
What is Telehealth?
Telehealth encompasses a broad variety of technologies and tactics to deliver virtual medical, health, and education services. Telehealth is not a specific service, but a collection of tools which allow healthcare professionals to enhance care and education delivery. Advancements in communication and information technology provide opportunities for new approaches to the delivery of recovery care.
